What Is PHP 7?
PHP 7 is the latest version of the PHP programming language created by The PHP Group. Many popular website software packages require PHP including Wordpress, Joomla, and Drupal.
How Will PHP 7 Benefit Me?
The PHP Group has improved the inner workings of the programming language. The main benefits of their work has been increased performance and reliability which translates to a better website experience for your visitors.
When Will The Update Occur?
The update will take place on March 1st, 2017 (barring any unforseen issues).
Is My Website Compatible?
If you're unsure of your website's software compatibility with PHP 7 please Contact Us. Please note that PHP 5.6 is no longer receiving active bug fixes from the PHP Group and that all websites should be planning an upgrade to a PHP 7 compatible version of their website software. We will be dropping support for PHP 5.6 later this year as security updates to it will cease at the end of this year.
What If I'm Not Satisfied With PHP 7?
Contact Us and we can switch your website back to PHP 5.6.
What Has Changed From PHP 5.6?
A number of PHP features have been modified or removed with the latest release. The following PHP loaders/encoders are currently unsupported under PHP 7:
- SourceGuardian Loader pre-version 11
- ionCube Loader 4
- ionCube Loader 5
- Zend Guard Loader
Currently we only support ionCube Loader 5 and Zend Guard 7 under PHP 5.6. PHP 7 will not have encoder/loader support at launch.
