Which FTP Program Should I Use?

We recommend managing your website's files with one of the following FTP programs:

Any FTP program you choose will show you two things - one is your hosting account on your server and the other is the "local" files on your own computer. You just have to move the website files from your computer to the hosting account, into the public_html folder.

We have updated our service to use Explicit TLS over FTP (aka FTPES) on port 21 and the root directory should most likely be /public_html/ or www .

If you're having connectivity issues you may want to try "Passive Mode" or "PASV" which can help clear up some connection issues.  You may need to manually add ftpes:// before the domain in the Host field.

Some programs like Adobe Dreamweaver have an FTP program built in so you just have to enter your IP address or domain name as your hostname, and your FTP/cpanel username and password.

Please note:  Adobe has not provided proper TLS support with Dreamweaver. The only reported version of Dreamweaver that can connect with the most secure encryption levels that we support is Creative Cloud 2017 as referenced by this Adobe forum thread.

If you cannot update your copy of Dreamweaver we suggest using a modern FTP program, like the ones listed above, to connect to your site's FTP service and manage your file transfers.
